Superb view

[Nov.2014] The first place where the taxi we ordered in Monsanto, Portugal took us was another village called Penha Garcia, which was about 10 minutes drive.

On the surface this was one of those typical Portuguese villages on the slope of a hill, but the other side view was really amazing.

As Monsanto, the rocks were speciality here, but the ones in Monsanto were round shaped granite and the ones here were sharp schist.

At the foot of this rock mountain, there were a few old houses with red roofs flattened against the rocky ground. According to the driver nobody is living there now, though.

There was a ruin of a castle on top of the hill. It was built in the 12th century. Also, apparently this village is famous for the fossils of trilobites, which I learned afterwards.
