The church which looks like a candy house

[ May 2016 ] After lunch, when we were walking from the restaurant to the old town in Bratislava, Slovakia, we came across a very pretty church. It is the St.Elizabeth Church, or Blue Church, built in the early 20th century in the style of Art Nouveau. It is like a blue candy house and it looked a bit similar to Gaudi houses of Spain. It also reminded me of Disney Land. But it is a real Catholic church. I did not get tired of looking at it because it was so particular to the small part. When we were there, there was a fence in front of the entrance and we could not enter.  A woman came up there and made the sign of the cross out of the fence. St. Elizabeth (Alzbety in their language) was a princess in the Hungarian Kingdom but became a nun and helped many poor people. She is depicted in the mosaic in the front of the church.

Next to this church there was a lovely yellowish high school, which was also in the Art Nouveau style. This seemed to have designed by the same person as the church. On the other hand, the building opposite of the church has fallen into ruin. We learned later that this used to be a hospital during the communist era. Someone bought this building, but has not done anything to it.
