Enjoy shopping at souk

[ Dec.2008 ] In Tunis, after arranging the tour from the next day, we enjoyed shopping in the souk.

We know that how hard we tried to beat down, we are still overcharged, but still, it is a great fun.

The atmosphere of the souk was similar to the one in Morocco, but I was surprised that the shop people here were not so persistent.

We met one man with the red woolen cap who wanted to guide us around and he took us to the rooftop of houses of 4 wives of a king in old time.

In the cafe we went in after becoming tired, there were only men and they were smoking Hookah.

People gazed at us and often called at us, Konnichiwa (hello), Samurai or Sarabajaa (good-bye in old fashioned Japanese) and so on, but we did not feel danger at all.

One young man at a station of ‘Metro’ which was a tram, called out to us, ” Salam Alaykum”, so I said ” Alaykum Salam”.

Then his expression slowly changed from seriousness to a nice smile, which gave me a strong impression.
