Redevelopment

[ Jan.2016 ] The redevelopment of waterfront areas are found all around the world.

We saw one in Buenos Aires, Argentina, too.

This area is called Puerto Madero.

A port was built at the end of 19th century here as the better port than the one in La Boca, but after 10 years, it stopped being used.

So this place gradually became the most degraded area in the city.

In the 1990s, they redeveloped here and now it is the main business area of the city with many sky scrapers in which offices and hotels are.

There is also a swing bridge here.

This bridge opens for large boats to pass through, but in fact that happens scarcely.

Because many of the streets around here are named after women, the bridge is called ‘Women’s Bridge’.
