Climb up

Climb up

[ Mar.2014 ] We climbed up the huge tent called ” The O2″ in the east of London.

You may say “What a whimsical thing to do”, and it was really a whimsical thing.

I had taken it lightly, thinking the view would be nice, and booked online.

When I found that it was 33 pounds for a climb, I felt a bit of suspicion, but without thinking deeply, went there on time.

And it was a big job almost like a rock climbing! First, we wore an overall like the one you would wear for skiing.

Then we had to wear a sort of string, as if we would do parachuting or something.

We put on a metal fitting which was to be linked with a cord fixed on the climbing route, which worked as a lifeline.

And we changed the shoes, too.

After that we went up the staircase to the starting point of the blue route on the tent and I got shocked.

It was really steep! I thought it is beyond my capacity, but I could not go back at that point, so I squeezed my hidden strength out and did it.

Of course we could not take our big cameras.

Only mobile phones were possible to take in the pocket of the uniform.

On top of all these, the weather was worse than the forecast.

We had to wait for a while, because the wind was too strong.

After the wind calmed down a bit, we started off, but it was still very windy and very thrilling!

Our group was only 5, though the max is 15.

The leader gave us some information.

This project started 1 year and 8 months ago.

Someone called Andy, who used to be in the army started it, and he is planning other similar projects, like going up a stadium or a bridge.

Climbing the O2 was much more exciting than I expected, but I will think twice, before making any bookings for his new projects.
