Maybe because of the weather…

Maybe because of the weather…

[ Oct.2013 ] #Morecambe is a town in north west #England.

This place became a town in mid 19th century after a company to build a port and a railway was set up and people started living around here.

It was flourished with tourists from Yorkshire in the east and Scotland in the north in the mid 20th century.

In those days it was famous for Miss UK competition as well, which was held here.

But in 1970s, the tourist attractions like piers and parks had to be closed for one reason or another and more people in the UK started going abroad for holiday, which made this town went out of fashion.

Although last 7-8 years, they started tidying up the sea front and the hotel which had been a ruin reopened, this time when I visited here after one and a half years, the town looked rather shabby.

Maybe the low dark clouds gave me that impression, but it is true that some of the shops were closed down and left empty.

Morecambe has got a special resources for tourism.

The ebb and flow of the tide is so quick, which creates an amazing view on the sea.

It is definitely worth looking.

They have a proper tourist office.

But still, it is not well-known, not like the Lake District which is just north of Morecambe.

I wonder it is a problem of government?
