The second Cathedral

The second Cathedral

[ June, 2013 ] The oldest and most authoritative cathedral in the UK is the one in Canterbury.

Then, which one is the second? Most people would say York, Durham or St.Paul’s in London, but in fact it is the one in Rochester, a small town in Kent.

Canterbury Cathedral was founded in 597 and Rochester Cathedral was founded 7 years later in 604.

The current building is built around 1080 by a French monk, though.

Still it is very old, but inside is surprisingly bright.

When we were there, the choir started practice, so luckily we could hear the beautiful music.

I recorded it by my mobile phone, so if you like, please listen to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7D9wZPeen0
