Delightful Market Square

Delightful Market Square

[ Aug.2015 ] The word Kauppatori in Helsinki means Market Square in English.

I cannot guess the meanings of Finnish words at all.

Surely, here in the square, there was a market.

They said that they are hosting the market every day during summer.

As you can see in the photo, they were selling many berries.

Also, one kind of bean and one kind of mushroom were sold here.

Following the food market, there was a craft market, selling lots of Finnish products.

There were some stalls where you could eat some Finnish dishes, too.

I was attracted to the Salmon Soup, but we did not have a chance to try one.

Next time…

So, everything sold here seemed Finnish, but the vendors were not necessarily Finnish.

An Italian man was selling stone accessories.

Apparently his wife, is from Finland and they make jewellery with semi-precious stones.

Anyway, one thing I was surprised at was the number of tourists.

I did not know that Helsinki was such a popular tourist city.

There were so many Asian tourists, in particular.

So much so that I could not look at some of the booths because I was outnumbered and overwhelmed by Chinese tourists who occupied the space.
