Stranded

Stranded

[ Aug.2013 ] This summer we had a holiday in a few islands in Greece.

First, we landed on Mykonos.

Because it was already dark, we planned to take a taxi to the hotel.

But at the taxi rank, only people were making a long queue and almost no taxis came.

After waiting long time, feeling lost, I called the hotel.

They said they would come and pick us up and I felt relieved, but again it took quite long time.

We learned that most people ordered the hotels’ pick-ups beforehand.

There is a charge for that, though in other islands, it was free.

We had other occasions that  we waited for a taxi for long time.

Here in Mykonos, you had better not rely on them.

On the other hand, the bus services were relatively frequent.

By the way, Mykonos is famous for being friendly to gay people.

So the direct flight from London was full of them.

I was a bit surprised to see that as we are not used to this sort of situation.
