Sahara Desert

Sahara Desert

[ Dec.2008 ] The south part of Tunisia is within the Sahara Desert.

We experienced it at the area called Ong El Jemel.

First, Sala, the driver went up and down the hillocks so that we felt like riding a rollercoaster, which is probably a usual tourist attraction.

Our car was Toyoya Land Cruiser, by the way.

And then, we visited the location of the film Star Wars.

One or two persons were walking around wearing their costume, Djellaba in the very quiet site.

Surely it was out of earth feeling.

I picked up the sand of Sahara and it was very soft.

After a bit more drive, we came across a well where a shepherd in a colourful jumper was pumping water.

After a while, a lot of sheep and goats poured to this area to drink some water.

Usually in England or some other places, sheep never come close to people, but here maybe because they do not know people, they did not mind us at all.

It was a powerful scene.

This shepherd was apparently a nomad.
