Osogovo Monastery, one of North Macedonia’s hidden treasures
Osogovo Monastery is one of the most remarkable Orthodox monasteries in North Macedonia and an important cultural and religious landmark in the eastern part of the country. Nestled in the peaceful Osogovo Mountains near the town of Kriva Palanka, close to the Bulgarian border, it combines impressive architecture, centuries of history and beautiful natural surroundings.
Dedicated to Saint Joachim of Osogovo, the monastery dates back to the 12th century and has long been an important pilgrimage site for the Macedonian Orthodox Church. Over the centuries it has been enlarged and restored several times, creating the elegant complex visitors can admire today.
