Bansko, Bulgaria’s mountain town in the Pirin National Park

What to see in Bansko

The Old Town is the heart of Bansko, with narrow cobbled streets, fortified houses and impressive examples of the Bulgarian National Revival architecture. One of its most important landmarks is the Holy Trinity Church, completed in the nineteenth century and recognised by its distinctive bell tower.

Visitors can also explore local museums, artisan workshops and traditional mehana restaurants serving authentic Bulgarian cuisine. Just outside the town lies Pirin National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its alpine lakes, ancient forests, hiking trails and breathtaking mountain landscapes.

During winter, Bansko becomes Bulgaria’s leading ski resort, offering excellent slopes for beginners and experienced skiers alike. In summer, hiking, mountain biking and nature walks make it an equally attractive destination.

When to visit Bansko

Winter, from December to March, is ideal for skiing and snowboarding. Late spring, summer and early autumn provide pleasant temperatures for hiking and exploring the mountains.
