Gdańsk, the Baltic jewel of Poland rich in history and Hanseatic heritage

Gdańsk is one of Poland’s most beautiful and historic cities, located on the Baltic Sea in the Pomeranian region. What to see in Gdańsk

The city’s main attraction is the historic Royal Way, stretching from the Golden Gate to the Green Gate through the beautifully restored Old Town. Along this route visitors encounter many of Gdańsk’s finest landmarks, including the Main Town Hall, the famous Neptune Fountain and the elegant Artus Court.

A walk along the Motława River leads to the iconic Medieval Crane (Żuraw), one of the city’s best-known symbols and one of Europe’s oldest surviving harbour cranes. The surrounding streets are filled with churches, museums, cafés and shops specialising in Baltic amber jewellery.

History enthusiasts should also visit the outstanding Museum of the Second World War and the European Solidarity Centre, dedicated to the movement that played a key role in the fall of communism in Poland.

Late spring and summer are ideal, offering pleasant temperatures and lively outdoor cafés. Autumn provides quieter streets and beautiful colours, while winter transforms the Old Town with festive Christmas markets and seasonal decorations.
