Russia is the world’s largest country, stretching across Eastern Europe and Northern Asia and spanning eleven time zones. Many journeys begin in Moscow, the capital, renowned for the Kremlin, Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral and its spectacular metro stations, often described as underground works of art. St. Petersburg, founded by Peter the Great, offers a different atmosphere with its elegant canals, imperial palaces and the world-famous Hermitage Museum, home to one of the finest art collections anywhere. Beyond these two iconic cities, Russia offers remarkable destinations such as the Golden Ring, a group of historic towns preserving medieval architecture and Orthodox traditions, Lake Baikal, the deepest freshwater lake on Earth, the volcanic landscapes of Kamchatka, and the legendary Trans-Siberian Railway, one of the world’s greatest rail journeys, linking Europe with the Pacific across thousands of kilometres.

During our travels we discovered a country of remarkable cultural depth and extraordinary contrasts. Walking through Moscow’s grand squares, exploring the imperial avenues of St. Petersburg, visiting monasteries, museums and historic towns allowed us to appreciate a nation where history is present everywhere. The sheer size of Russia means that every region has its own identity, landscapes and traditions, making each journey completely different from the last.
