Endless surprises in Tunisia

Endless surprises in Tunisia

[ Dec.2008 ] This strange building is called Ksar, which was sometimes used as a fortress by Berber people.

Each room is called Ghorfa and it is a storeroom for grain.

We saw this in Medenine and surrounding area in Tunisia.

Really Tunisia is unearthly…

We went in to an ethnological museum which showed the traditional life of Berbers.

According to the good looking guide there, when they married, the woman’s family got about 400 dinars from the man’s family.

I felt sorry for women who were sold.

A lot of Ghorfas were souvenir shops now and my friend bought an Arabic scarf at one of them, the scarf which we were familiar with late Yasser Arafat.

I am not sure if she is wearing it in Tokyo, tough…
