Touring Djerba

Touring Djerba

[ Dec.2008 ] We chartered a taxi to tour around Djerba in Tunisia for a half day.

This driver and guide was a glib talker, who sometimes became a carpet dealer.

We visited and saw the beach where pieces of marbles from Carrara in Italy were scattered around, 7km Roman road and water pipe, people harvesting olives wearing a particular costume with striped cloaks and straw hats, and the olive refinery.

In the pottery museum, we met an old man called Ali Berber, who loved being photographed.

We learned that the reason why they used candles to get down into the mine for the clay was to see the oxygen condition.

The last destination was the carpet shop.

Here the driver demonstrated his ability of talking.

My friend was cast a spell and bought a large carpet.

When she was going to pay, suddenly the power was cut and she could not use her credit card.

She was taken to the nearest ATM by a car, which made me feel uneasy.

She asked for sending this carpet to Japan and they said it would take one month, but I heard afterwards that the carpet finally arrived at the end of February.

Apparently they seemed to have sent it after she sent reminder fax a few times.
