[ Apr.2009 ] The old part of Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was built by Ottoman Turkey.
The streets are full of small shops, which made me excited.
It is divided by what they are selling, like jewellery section, hardware section, and so on, just like bazaars and souks in Middle East.
The colourful rugs like the ones in the photo caught my eyes.
The ones outside were new productions, but inside they had antique rugs.
In those days I loved Oriental rugs and I bought one which was said to be woven sometime between the two great wars.
It was a Bosnian kilim and spiders were the main motif.
Apparently, spiders are regarded as guardian angels in Bosnia.
I had never seen designs like that.
