Sunset over the desert

Sunset over the desert

[ Dec.2008 ] The first night of our tour in Tunisia, we stayed in Tozeur, a oasis city in the south of the country.

As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we asked the receptionist to arrange a caleche (small carriage) for us.

Probably it was recommended to do that in my friend’s book.

We chartered it for one hour for 20 dinar (about 10 euro for today’s money).

First we went to a park to look at the sunset over the desert, which was moving.

And then, we went into the forest of palm trees.

But after the sunset, the temperature dropped quickly and I remember only that it was cold and dark.

We saw a Japanese group also on the caleche there.

We saw this driver again next day.

When we were shopping in the town of Tozeur, there was a man coming up to us with a friendly smile.

I am not good at remembering people’s faces (especially the faces of people around this part of the world), so I did not recognise him at once, but it was the driver.

Apparently he did not only driving a caleche, but having a shop.
