dolphin watching

[ Nov.2016 ] On the second day in Gibraltar, we decided to join the dolphin watching boat tour called Dolphin Adventure.

My husband loves dolphins.

We went down to the reception at the hotel to book the tour and found that there was an extra tour on that morning at 8:45 for the cruise ship customers and we joined them.

The boat was the yellow one anchored just below our hotel room and the cruise people were all from Italy.

Gibraltar is in the south Europe, but in the early morning in November, it was so cold to travel by boat.

But the view of the land under the morning sun was very beautiful and even the factory view was nice.

An interesting thing we noticed was that there was a dark cloud only over Gibraltar as if to declare that this is the territory of the UK which is famous for its bad weather.

In fact we felt a bit strange when we arrived in Gibraltar from sunny Spain the day before, because it was suddenly cloudy.

Seeing it away from the shore, it was very clear that there was only one dark cloud there and the view of the sunbeam from the gap in the cloud was fantastic.

They say that not only are there several kinds of dolphins but also some whales around here.

And the first thing I saw looked like the tail of a whale, though it was just one moment and I could not take a photo.

After that, we saw many small dolphins moving and bouncing in the sea.

In our boat there was a guide who seemed to be devoting her life to dolphins and according to her, they come to this area to eat fish and to have their children.

She also said that dolphins do not sleep.

They were all wild dolphins and not bred, so they did not come near to the boat and we could see them only in some distance, but we saw many of them, much more than I expected, so I was very satisfied.

The organizers of this tour were working protecting dolphins, too and on the way back, they came round to sell their photos of dolphins to raise some money.

After seeing so many of them, not only my husband, but also I felt close to dolphins, so we bought one photo from them.
