[ May, 2013 ] I took this photo from the bus, so it is not very clear, but this is the Ugly House in Snowdonia ( Wales ).
The following is the story Kevin, our guide told us: In the late 15th century, when this area was owned by one landlord, a poor traveller was digging a hole here.
The landlord passed by and told him to stop and go away.
But the traveller kept saying ‘I have not got any money.
Let me stay just one night in this hole’ and did not move.
So the landlord changed his mind and told him ‘if you can build a proper house in 24 hours, you can stay there for your life’.
The traveller went to the nearby pub and told this story to everyone there.
This landlord was not liked by people there, so they all stood up and helped him to build this house in a day.
And this is the result.
Surely it looked rather slipshod piece of work as the wall were not smooth.
