[ Aug.2013 ] With the organised tour in Naxos, we visited Apiranthos, a village made of marble.
The streets, houses and benches are all marble.
This village was apparently built by prisoners in Creta.
They were sent to Naxos and liberated when the prison in Creta got too full in the 10th century.
It was a bright village with very nice atomosphere, so it was difficult to think this was the village of prisoners.
We visited the folklore museum where you can see the life of people 100 years ago.
The room there was very pretty with full of those hand woven cloths, similar to the one I had bought the day before.
We had only 30 minutes’ free time here as this place was very small, but I would have liked walking around all corners of this village.
This is the sad part of the organised tour, isn’t it.
