[ July, 2013 ] This is the Swallow’s Nest which every travel brochure prints for the page of Crimea.
It is situated 10 km west of Yalta and it is really picturesque, standing just the edge of the cliff.
But to be honest, I was surprised to see how small it was.
A German aristocrat who became rich by Caspian oil built this ‘castle’ for his mistress in 1912, but apparently the mistress never stayed here.
The German himself had to go back to Germany soon after, because of the outbreak of WW1 and this place became a restaurant.
Now it was used as a small exhibition hall.
We visited here by boat from Yalta.
