narrow staircase to the restaurant in Amalfi, southern Italy
going through the narrow staircase

[Dec. 2024] After enjoying the cathedral in Amalfi, a tourist destination in southern Italy, we found a narrow staircase on the side, not the front staircase.

Going down the staircase, we found a restaurant called Il Chiostro.

I had a vivid memory of being ripped off at a restaurant in this area when I first visited Amalfi a long time ago, so I was quite hesitant to go in, but when I went in, it was completely different, so I was relieved.

Even in Italy, which seems to keep a long history, restaurants and shops seem to go through the ups and downs.

It seems that Il Chiostro is definitely a restaurant for tourists, and the other customers were Japanese families, American families, Asian women, etc.

It can’t be helped, since it’s a tourist destination.

Here, I took stuffed zucchini flowers for a starter and shared them with my husband.

They were stuffed with squid and potatoes and fried.

Very well cooked and they were delicious.

very tasty stuffed zucchini flowers

For the main course, I had stuffed squid.

It was stuffed with sausage and an unidentified green vegetable.

The combination of squid and sausage was new to me and good surprise.

There was a layer of potatoes underneath that were too creamy to be called mashed potatoes.

I could taste a hint of liquorice, which I don’t like, but it wasn’t too strong and was just a secret ingredient.

It was presented like a flower, and it was definitely an elaborate dish.

good prawn gnocchi with not surprising taste

My husband’s main course was prawn gnocchi, which he said was a good and unsurprising dish.

We had Falanghina wine by the glass.

It was poured generously.

And coffee, which came out to about €93, not cheap but not too expensive either.
