A mansion of an aristocrat

A mansion of an aristocrat

[ May, 2013 ] Our tour to England and Wales went to a mansion called Chatsworth House.

The entrance fee was 16 pounds, which is not cheap, but in the house and in the garden, there were many many people.

I saw one grandmother explaining the details of each room to her grandson eagerly.

In the garden many families were having a picnic.

This site has more than 1800 acres of land and they have more than 1 million visitors every year.

The most interesting thing was a violin.

I won’t tell you why, but if you go there, look for a violin 🙂

This is a home of an aristocrat, Duke of Devonshire and his family.

They are still there.

I wondered who they are and looked up.

Apparently, there has been a powerful family called Cavendish since 16th century and this Duke is a part of it.

Now 12th Duke is the landlord here.

I don’t know if he is ‘an open aristocrat’ who wants to get nearer to ordinary people, or a go-getter using his own house, but anyway, I did not like the fact that this kind of privileged class still exists.
