Blackpool Tower

Blackpool Tower

[ May 2016 ] This is a photo of the view from the top of the Blackpool Tower which is the symbol of Blackpool in north west England. The height is 158m — well, that does not sound so impressive, but the view from the tower which is facing the sea was fantastic. Apparently 170 people took three years to build this tower from 1891 to 1894. They say that the Eiffel Tower in Paris which was built a few years before inspired them. The local architects planned the design, but they died before it was completed. In those days when it was built, this was the tallest building in the UK. Now the attraction to climb up the tower is called ‘The Blackpool Tower Eye’ and before we went up they showed a 4D video. There is a glass floor called ‘Skywalk’, too.

By the way, our friends who did not recommend Blackpool, saying it is too common, have never gone up the tower. As they say ‘When in Rome, do what Romans do”, in a touristy place, you should try what they offer, even though they look rather silly. In that way, you can appreciate  and enjoy the place.
