[March, 2011] This is a house in a small fishing village called Volendam, which is not far from Amsterdam.

I thought it was a seashore, but in fact it was a lake.

To get to the lake, we had to go up the steps from the village.

Apparently in the Netherlands, they got rid of the water of lakes to use the bottom ground for people’s living places in 15 to 17th century.

In this way, they increased their land by 40%.
