Cat

Cat

[ May, 2014 ] I had heard about the cat called “Manx”, which does not have a tail living only in Isle of Man, off England.

But the ones I had seen there were all normal cats with long tails, so I was beginning to think that Manx was died out.

Then near the port in Laxey, we saw one.

It was a dark day and I could not take a good photo, but this cat in the photo does not have a tail.

Manx are the result of the recessive gene, so they say the number is reducing.

Apparently people think that it was born as a mutation, and in the environment of the isolated island, it stayed that way and took root.

Their characters are not only no tails, but also, they have longer back legs than the front ones.

The cat we saw was not particularly a charming one, but I felt lucky that I saw one.
