Countryside for Londoners

Countryside for Londoners

[ July, 2013 ] The last destination of our London walk was Hampstead Heath.

Well, it has got 790 acres, so it is big enough on its own as a walking course.

There are many facilities here including a zoo and a athletic track.

The interesting one is the swimming ponds, one for women, one for men and one for both.

This time we did not go there, but saw a lot of people with beach towels as it was a hot day.

They spread there towels on the grass for sun bathing and sometimes jump into the pond.

It is more interesting than a atrificial pool.

I looked up and found the water temperature now in the mid-July was 23 degree.

A bit too cold for me.

There is a white house called Kenwood House in the Heath.

It was originally a mansion of an aristocrat and now it is a museum.

But unfortunately at the moment renovation work was going on and ir was closed to public.

Here, in its garden, they hold some concerts every summer.

I have been there once and it was very nice and atmospheric, though on the way back, it was a chaos with many many people.

Hampstead Heath is a nice and bright park with a lot of families and friends during daytime in the weekends, but it is also famous for gay cruising.
