[August 2012] In Odense in Denmark, I followed the walking tour route in my guidebook.
It is a fairly big city with the population of a bit more than 150,000, but in the old town you can see pretty stone paved streets with colourful houses.
It is really like a Andersen’s fairly tale world.
I noticed a couple of things while walking.
One is that Danish people like ice cream.
There are many ice cream shops all over the town and nearly every shop has got pretty vigorous female shop assistants.
Another thing is that they seems to like knitting a lot.
I went into a shop because I saw nice knitwear in their window, but found they sell only wool to knit them.
This happened a couple of times.
One more thing.
The bicycle tracks are well developed in this county.
Usually, it is on the same level as the pavement and only they are divided by the colour of the ground.
So I often walked on the bike tracks and nearly got hit by bicycles.
