[ Jan.2016 ] On the last evening in Paraty in Brazil, before moving on to Rio de Janeiro, we went into a restaurant called Bartholomeu because it looked lovely.
The tables in the nice garden were already crowded, but the spacious interior tables were nearly empty.
So we took a table there and ordered a steak dish.
The drinks were served before long, but the foods did not arrive for a very long time.
While we were waiting, more and more people came in and the most of the tables were taken.
So the staff took more and more orders, but no food was served.
Some of the customers gave up and went and all others were irritated.
But the food, when they finally served, was very good.
The thing on top of the meat (I do not know what) helped the taste of the meat itself and overall it was delicious.
We thought it was worth waiting.
In fact, not only here, but since we arrived in this town, we found that every restaurant’s service was slow, so I think it is a kind of culture there.
This town is a tourist destination, and no customers eat hurriedly to catch up on some work.
We should just follow ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do” and enjoy the different culture.
