[ May, 2013 ] In Europe, the daytime is long in this season.
When we came out of the restaurant, it was still bright enough, so we had a walk.
At a river bank, we found that the boat for tourists was just about leaving at 9:15pm.
We decided to take it, It was 70 minutes tour going up and down the Ouse River.
We enjoyed the view and taking photos out at the deck for the first half, but it was getting too cold, so we went down to the indoors.
During the trip, the captain kept explaining about the river and York, but so many people downstairs were drunk and talked so loud that I could not hear the captain.
The binge drinking is one of the most serious problems in the UK at the moment.
According to the captain, the water of the river looks brown because of the peat, but water itself is clean.
In the past, the water got frozen and once they had a horse racing on the river.
Also, York used to be famous for chocolate.
The well-known ‘Kit Kat’ is originally from here, but when the manufacturer Rowtree’s was bought by Swiss Nestre in 1980s, York lost the title of City of Chocolate.
