[ May 2016 ] After visiting the cathedral in Bordeaux in France, we moved to the north of the old town and visited Nortre-Dame church where they were having Mass and Mably Court which used to be a monastery. Then we went to the huge square with a monument 43 metres high . This monument is called the Girondist’s Monument. Girondists are the people who led the French Revolution at the end of the 18th century, but later they were killed here under the Reign of Terror. This big square is called Place Des Quinconces and apparently it is one of the largest in Europe. When we saw here from the river side a day before, it looked like a messy place with foods stalls, but in fact, it was an antique market. They were selling serious antique goods such as furniture and the prices seemed high. I was tempted by a coral necklace, but it was too expensive for me. This square has the area of 126,000 square metres and they hold not only the antique market, but funfairs and festivals here.
