[ Jan.2016 ] On the first night in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, we went to a night club our tour leader booked for us.
It was called Rio Scenarium and it seemed a famous place which was listed in our guide book.
They gave us one of the best tables which was just next to the stage and the dance floor.
It was a big three storey place in the “well-hole” style so that people upstairs could see the stage and the dance floor.
There was an annex as well where another band played.
The interior was interesting with many things such as bicycles, umbrellas, clocks and mirrors were hung on the wall.
First we settled down at the table and ordered liqueur. Soon a band with a woman vocalist started playing and an elderly couple came out to the dance floor and danced.
After that other 4 or 5 couples danced.
The music was basically samba.
After the interval, the same band performed and this time, the people were more excited and some were singing together.
Meanwhile, we ordered the first thing in the menu which turned out croquettes of corned beef.
It was surprisingly tasty.
After 11pm, a band with male black vocalist came on the stage.
By then, the floor was full up with local young people and full of excitement like a concert.
They all seemed familiar with every song and the floor got really lively.
We enjoyed very much and wanted to stay on, but the schedule next day was busy, so we left around midnight.
I guess the peak of the night would have been later.
