Five Wells square

Five Wells square

[ July, 2014 ] I read that there is a square called “Five Wells (Trg Pet Bunara)” in Zadar in Croatia in my guide book, so we went there.

It is a square with literary five wells in a row.

Venetians built these in 1574 to help Zadar to withstand the Turkish siege on the site of a former moat.

These wells were used until 1838.

Nowadays this square is one of the tourist spots and they often have open air concerts around here.

This square is located the south end of the Zadar’s main street, Siroka.

The street is only about 800 metres from one end to the other.

As Karlo of our accommodation said, you can see the length and breadth of Zadar in two days.
