How to make a ring

[ Nov.2014 ] The Basilia of San Francesco in Arezzo in Italy is famous for 15th century’s Pietro della Francesca’s paintings, but to see this you have to book in advance.

We were there in the morning, but got the slot of 1pm.

So we had a few hours to spend.

First we went to a jewellery exhibition held in the underground floor of this church.

It was a collection of Castellani, a 19th century goldsmith and collector.

He was also familiar with archeology and because of that there were some collection of Roman and Etruscan jewelleries.

I saw some old jewelleries with ambers, which were very interesting for me, as I just leaned about ancient Amber route in Lithuania a few weeks before.

This was the route of amber trading starting from Baltic Sea to Rome.

By the way, in the exhibition, they were showing a video of making a ring.

At first I could not see that they were making a ring, as they were working on a cylinder with a lot of rings.

Each of these rings were cut to become a precious ring.

I could see that it was a hard complicated job to make one lovely ring.

The gemstone they put in at the end seemed a piece of topaz.
