[ Dec.2012] The second day in Taiwan, we had a group tour.
The first place we went was Martyr’s Shrine where enshrines the dead souldiers.
The tourists come here to see the change of the guards’ ceremony.
Our guide, Miss Sia told us that the guards here are chosen from the ones more than 175 centimetres tall.
Their shiny helmet left me a strong impression.
By the way, Taiwanese boys have to serve one year in the army.
Miss Sia said that their salary is only 1800 NT$ (about 540 euros)–too cheap, isn’t it.
The foods are provided, but they are awful.
There are a lot of cases that while he is away for the duty, his girlfriend graduates from the university and gets a good job as well as a new boyfriends.
And this is often a subject of songs.
Because it is so tragic (maybe), they are going to abolish this compulsory military service in 2014 apparently.
