[ June, 2013 ] Rochester in Kent in England is a small town but there is a castle as well as a cathedral.
This castle was built around 1127 and the height of its keep is more than 34 metres, which makes the highest in England.
In 1215, it was under siege by King John.
He tried to burn down the castle using the fat of 40 pigs, but the castle could hold.
After that, being rebuilt a few times but it kept its role as a fortress until 16th century.
When we were there, it happened that they were having a festival called Fuse 2013.
The leaflet said ‘From home-grown talent to world-class performers’.
It looked like a gathering of all sorts of street performers.
People could see anything for free, so it seemed that all of the family of Rochester got together here.
