Also this time it was Airbnb

[June 2025] We stayed at an Airbnb in Agios Nikolaos, a town in eastern Crete, Greece.

Since our first Airbnb stay in Sardinia in 2020, we’ve become completely addicted to its convenience.

We’ve had about three bad experiences in the past, but lately we’ve mostly had good ones.

This Airbnb was also perfect.

The two-bedroom apartment was spacious, including the bathroom.

The kitchen was also easy to use, and we ate there several times.

The interior was modern, although not particularly cute.

There was a terrace outside, where we could relax.

It wasn’t a single house, but an apartment complex with several apartments like this on the property, and I think the landlord probably lived in one of them.

The apartment across the terrace from ours was also an Airbnb run by the same landlord.

We didn’t meet the landlord himself, who apparently has another job, but his wife (?) came out to show us around at the beginning.

We met her again during our stay and she asked if we needed any help, which was very nice.

The location was convenient, almost in the centre of town.

However, the town of Agios Nikolaos is full of slopes.

Just down the street in front of the Airbnb is the town’s central square, El Venizelou, and it’s a very steep slope..

We gradually got used to it, though.

Right across from this square is a fairly large, thriving fish shop, which we used.

By the way, on the day we arrived, the Wi-Fi wouldn’t connect, so we had to communicate with the landlord.

In the end, an engineer came to check it out, and it turned out that the problem was because my husband had unplugged the power cord.

He had thought it was for a TV socket and had plugged in his computer instead.

Even though there were plenty of other electrical sockets.

I remembered a similar experience we had last time staying at an Airbnb in Sorrento, Italy, and it made me think that at our age, we’ll probably be seeing more and more of these kinds of things in the future.
