[ Sept.2013 ] Ano Syros is an old town on the hill behind Ermoupoli, the main town in Syros island.
Venetian people built this as a part of Duchy of Naxos in the beginning of 13th century.
My guidebook says that it still has got the medieval atmosphere, so we took a taxi to get up there.
Here in Syros, you can find taxi easily unlike some of other islands we visited.
And the fare was reasonable.
This kind of things gave us a good impression on this island.
Unfortunately the Catholic church called San Giorgio on top of the hill was under renovation work, but the view from there was fantastic.
Syros is not so touristy compared with some of other islands, which I liked, but on the other hand, it seemed more difficult to get tourist information.
We walked around Ano Syros without any plan and had a rest for a coffee and came back, but I realised afterwards that there are more to see there.
