Desolate church

Desolate church

[ Mar.2015 ] When we were walking in the old town of Chartres in France, we came across a gorgeous looking church.

It is very big and if we have not seen the cathedral, I would have thought this was the main church in the town.

But once we went in, we found it was desolate as you can see in the photo.

I wonder they were going to work on it now.

This church is called Church of St.

Pierre and originally it was a Benedictine monastery.

During the French Revolution, the monastery was dissolved and this became a parish church in 1803.

This church is famous for its medieval stained glasses, too.
