[ Apr.2014 ] Dracula was buried in an island in Snagov lake which is about 40 km north of Romanian capital, Bucharest, but after a while, when someone dug the grave, the body had been disappeared – – something like this was in a novel called “Historian” I read long time ago.
Since then, I had wanted to visit Snagov and my wish was fulfilled this time.
But the atmosphere of this island was so bright and calm, which did not match the image I had.
The grave of Vlad the third who is the model of Dracula was inside the 15th century church in the Sunagov Monastery.
They were charging a lot of money for taking photos inside, so I do not have the photo of the grave, though.
It seemed until recently people had to take a boat to come to the island, but now they have a simple bridge.
According to our friends, a lot of rich people live around here and they pointed out one huge villa of the richest man in Romania.
This fact did not match with my image of Dracula’s grave, either.
I had been imagining a dark quiet graveyard in a thick forest….
