[ Sept. 2013 ] The Apollonian Palace Hotel in Ermoupoli in Syros was wonderful. We booked the room called Delux Sea View, which had two large rooms and the sea was just below the window. We could hear the sound of the sea constantly. This is the photo of the sea at night taken from the window of our room. The buildings in Syros were different from the rest of the islands we visited. They were more solid and the feeling was like that we were in Italy or somewhere. Apparently this hotel building was originally a mansion of 1830s, but by the time when the hotel owner bought it, it was a ruin without the roof. Only remained thing is the marble floor at the entrance. We liked Syros island and this hotel, so asked for one more night, but it was already booked up.
