[ Nov.2015 ] Because we went to the Portrait Restaurant in National Portrait Gallery in London, England, we looked around the Gallery itself, too.
You do not usually go to the museums local to you, do you.
So this may have been the first time for me to see the Gallery properly.
This place is organised by the eras and older ones are on the upper floors.
I was impressed to see the portraits of historical people which I have seen in school history text books.
Each portrait was explained in detail even for the ones of people who were not so well known, so if you take your time to read and see all of the pictures, you will learn British history very well.
It happened that there was a special event called “Face of Britain” showing how portraiture has been used as a statement of power, declaration of love, for the promotion of fame, and so on.
As I said before, in Britain we can see the permanent exhibitions free of charge, which is wonderful.
