[ Dec.2015 ] The first town we went in Argentina was Bariloche which was on Nahuel Huapi Lake.
It was obvious that this town was new.
Historically this place developed as a part of Chile, but in the border treaty in 1881, they decided this area belonged to Argentina.
The Germans who immigrated to Chile in the 19th century came over this side, too and started some retail businesses and that was the beginning of the development of the town.
So the majority of the people were Austrians, Germans, Slovenians, north Italians and Chileans.
In the 1930s wealthy Argentines started coming here for holidays and since then it has been a famous holiday destination.
After the WW2, some Nazi war criminals were found around here and apparently there is even a view that Hitler and Eva Braun survived and lived here.
Because this is a touristy place, our tour company must have thought it would be in great bustle during the year-end and new year period.
But in fact it was quiet and most of the shops and restaurants closed early.
Our tour leader had a great difficulty to find a good restaurant or two where we could enjoy New Years Eve dinner.
