[Dec.2012] We visited Chiang Kai-shek Momorial Hall with the group tour in Taipei.
This was built 5 years after his death in 1980.
The front staircase has got 89 steps, representing his age when he died.
The proper way of entering this hall is climbing up these steps, but fortunately the staircase was under renovation, so we used the lift.
In the main hall, in front of the huge statue, changing of the guards ceremony was going on.
According to our guide, Miss Sia, Chiang Kai-shek’s son Chiang Ching-kuo was more popular than his father, because he was more friendly.
In the huge park where this memorial hall is in, there are theatres as well.
One gate of thie park is called Liberty Plaza now, but whenever the government changes, apparently, the change of the name is always come up to the agenda.
