[ Feb.2013 ] I have already written that seafood, vegetables and wines were very good in Malta, but the thing I must not forget is bread.
Usually, I am not very keen on carbohydrate stuff, but here in Malta, I ate a lot of bread.
The outside is hard and crispy and inside is soft and chewy, just right for my taste.
We have been to Altamura in Italy to taste their bread which is recognised as Protected designation of origin by EU.
The Maltese bread is similar to this, but not so heavy as the ones in Altamura.
According to my guidebook, there is a long standing bakery in Sliema, just north of Valletta, which we did not have a chance to go unfortunately.
