A play at a small theatre

[ Nov.2014 ] I went to see a play at a small theatre called Southwark Playhouse in London.

I had not seen a play for a long time.

The title was “Who Do We Think We Are”.

10 rather elderly actors introduced their own personal histories from their grandparents time up to now randomly.

There was not much of the set, and every actor helped others as a side player or a set when the others talked about their stories.

Because the stories jumped from one to the other, I could not follow at first, but after a while, without knowing myself,  I was drawn into it.

There were many interesting stories, for example, one spent her childhood in India under the reign of Britain.

Another one survived the ghetto in Warsaw.

There was an actor who was brought up by strong communist parents, too.

From Japan, Togo Igawa was there and talked about the atomic bomb in Nagasaki.

As it was very small space, I felt those actors very close and enjoyed it very much.
