[ Apr.2014 ] On the way from Bran to Brasov in Romania, we visited Rasnov fortress, which is situated on a hill of 650 metres high.
We got out of the car at the car park at the foot of the hill, and took a special toy train which was pulled by a tractor.
Of course you can walk up there if you want.
This fortress was built in the early 13th century by Teutonic Knights to protect themselves against Tatar and Turkish.
When I looked from the bottom, it looked just a simple castle, but when we entered, we found that there was a village inside the wall, and very pretty.
The houses are now used as small museums or souvenir shops, but in the past people must have been living here.
The view from the top was beautiful, too.
So overall It was much better than I expected.
