[ Apr.2014 ] Brasov in Romania is the capital city of Transylvania which was the main area of our journey.
First, we looked over the city from a hill and then went into the city.
According to my guide book, this town was built by Teutonic knights, so it was a German city.
It is very difficult to understand the history of this area, and apparently this city had three different names at one time, in German, in Hungarian and in Romanian.
And there was a time that Romanian people was forbidden to enter this city, which sounds awful.
There were pastel coloured houses as often seen in central European towns, which reminded me of Budapest, Ljubljana or Krakow.
While we walked around the city, taking photos, we came across a narrow street called “Rope Street”.
The width of this street is 1.32 metres and the length is 83 metres, which apparently makes one of the narrowest streets in Europe and shows the town planning tendencies of medieval Brasov.
