[ Oct.2013 ] My friend was looking forward to visiting the #Rococo #Garden in Cotswolds.
This is situated just outside of a village called Painswick and originally built as a garden of Painswick House built around 1730.
The garden itself was designed in 1748 and because the original plan was survived, in 1970s they managed to rebuild this garden which had been neglected to have become an overgrown jungle.
Rococo is a type of design thrived in France in the 18th century.
The gardens in those days were artificially beautifully made like a theatrical set.
Traditional English gardens are made respecting the nature more, so Rococo gardens are not usually seen in England.
There were statues and gazebos here and there, and surely there was an atmosphere of the continental European garden.
But unfortunately, as we visited there at the end of October on the windy rainy day, there were no flowers and so many fallen leaves, so it was not exactly orderly as Rococo garden should be.
They close here on the 1st November until 10th January.
Apparently it is worth visiting the season of snowdrops.
